I attended MusicEx with Deadpool, aka Siyaya, who was cosplaying in an amazingly detailed costume. I was decked out in my Slayer Energy Drink kimono and rave glasses, and together, we caused quite a stir. People mistook us for performers, snapping countless photos with us. One of my favorite moments was cradling Deadpool in my arms inside the YFM booth—an unforgettable picture that captured the fun and excitement of the day.
We had an absolute blast in front of the stage with DJ Pedabotic, grooving to the beats and enjoying the phenomenal performances by various artists. The energy was palpable, and the crowd was electric, creating an atmosphere that was both exhilarating and immersive.
Top Acts and Personal Favorites
Among the standout performances, Prime Circle was my personal favorite. Their set was electrifying, captivating the audience and solidifying their status as one of the best acts of the day. The lineup was packed with popular names that kept the crowd buzzing. Spoegwolf, Karen Zoid, Pabi Cooper, Mafikizolo, Kamo Mphela, Francois van Coke, and Young Stunna were among the highlights on the Main Stage. The Music Lounge also featured incredible acts like Arno Carstens, The Soil, Sipho Hotstix Mabuse, Samthing Soweto, and Kings of the Weekend, adding a more intimate yet equally thrilling experience.
A Phenomenal Debut
MusicEx made a remarkable debut as one of the biggest indoor music festivals of the year. The event was a testament to the vibrant and dynamic South African music scene, offering a platform for both established and emerging artists to showcase their talents. The seamless organization, diverse lineup, and enthusiastic crowd all contributed to the festival’s resounding success.
Looking Forward to the Future
The success of this inaugural event has set a high bar, and I am incredibly excited to see how MusicEx will grow and evolve in the coming years. With its promising start, there’s no doubt that it will continue to expand, attracting even more music lovers and becoming a staple in the South African music festival calendar.
Attending MusicEx with Deadpool was an unforgettable experience. The combination of great music, fantastic company, and the vibrant festival atmosphere made it an event to remember. I can’t wait to see what next year holds for MusicEx, and I’m already looking forward to another incredible weekend filled with music, fun, and unforgettable memories.
