The recently released “Black Myth: Wukong” from Chinese developer Game Science has swiftly become a sensation in the gaming community. Surpassing 10 million copies sold in merely three days across PC and PS5, the game has undeniably made a significant impact since its launch. Game Science officially announced this noteworthy achievement on Friday night.

Game Science revealed that the game’s maximum number of concurrent players across all platforms surpassed 3 million, another thing to note is that it hasn’t been released on Xbox, so this number is even more staggering. Wukong achieved profitability on its initial day and generated over $450 million in total revenue during its first three days, as reported by Daniel Ahmad, an analyst at Niko Partners.

Black Myth Wukong

Goldman Sachs had previously estimated that “Black Myth: Wukong” could sell 12 million copies on Steam, resulting in over 3 billion yuan (around 420 million U.S. dollars) in revenue. In a more optimistic scenario, the game could achieve sales of 20 million units, with revenue exceeding 5 billion yuan.

Whatever the case is, Black Myth: Wukong’s story is inspired by the timeless Chinese epic Journey to the West. This story chronicles the escapades of a monk and his three apprentices, spotlighting the exploits of Sun Wukong, the fabled Monkey King revered for his extraordinary abilities and playful demeanor and will likely only keep growing in players.
