In 2024, the Berlin Film Festival will honor Martin Scorsese for his extraordinary career by presenting him with the prestigious Golden Bear Award. Considered amongst the greatest filmmakers in world cinema, Scorsese has directed over 70 films, including classics such as ‘Taxi Driver’, ‘Raging Bull’, ‘Goodfellas’, ‘Cape Fear’, ‘The Age of Innocence’, ‘Gangs of New York’, ‘The Aviator’, ‘The Departed’, ‘Shutter Island’, ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ and ‘The Irishman’.

The 74th Berlin International Film Festival will award the Golden Bear for Lifetime Achievement to American/Italian director, producer and screenwriter Martin Scorsese. The honor will be presented during an awards ceremony to be held at the Berlinale Palast on 20 February 2024.

Martin Scorsese’s latest film, Apple Original Films’ Killers of the Flower Moon, was recently voted the best film of 2023 by the renowned US film association National Board of Review and has been named one of the top 10 films of the year by the American Film Institute, as well as No. 1 Best Film of 2023 by “The New York Times”, “The New Yorker” and The New York Film Critics Circle.

Killers of the Flower Moon, his latest film, is one of his greatest successes. Scorsese himself eloquently said, the film is ‘an offering that recognizes the extent of the terror experienced by the Osage community, and which may provide some sort of comfort.’ It is a great pleasure to once again welcome a good friend to the festival and offer him our most prestigious honor award” , say the directors of the Berlinale 2024 Mariëtte Rissenbeek and Carlo Chatrian.
