Microsoft is adding a new AI button to Windows keyboards, it is called “Copilot” and will sit to the right of the space bar and turn on Microsoft’s newly launched Co-pilot service, which assists users with duties like document summaries, music recommendations, and queries that you could pose to the AI chatbot or search engine.
We are entering a new era of AI, and Microsoft’s partners will begin shipping Windows 11 laptops and PCs with the AI button on them, starting during CES 2024 next week. We can expect a broader release in late February, these include forthcoming Surface devices. The Copilot button will likely be one of the most used buttons as we embrace AI even more in our daily lives.
Microsoft wants to unlock new AI experiences on the Windows PC.
“We believe it will empower people to participate in the AI transformation more easily,” Yusuf Mehdi, Microsoft’s executive vice president, and consumer chief marketing officer, wrote in a blog post published Thursday. “The new key will invoke the Copilot in Windows experience to make it seamless to engage Copilot in your day-to-day.”
