MultiChoice Announces Showmax 2.0 with New Pricing, App and Release Date

Showmax in Africa is gearing up for a relaunch that will bring new monthly pricing, an upgraded app with additional features, and an imminent release date.

Initially introduced in 2015, Showmax has been instrumental in providing a consolidated streaming service for South Africans and other nations across the continent, offering a variety of international and local television shows and movies. This is especially significant for those who do not yet have access to platforms like HBO Max and Peacock in the region.

Introducing a revised pricing structure of R89 per month, down from R99. The Showmax Entertainment Mobile app, designed for streaming shows and movies on mobile devices, will be available for just R39 per month.

A noteworthy addition is the Showmax Premier League, the world’s inaugural standalone Premier League plan for mobile users, offering live coverage of all 380 football games. This premier league plan will debut concurrently with the revamped service at R69 per month for mobile users.

As for the release date, the Showmax app will be available from 23 January 2024. The new, refreshed Showmax will then officially launch on 12 February 2024.
