Electronic Arts has unveiled the initial concept sketch and basic details about the upcoming installment in the Battlefield franchise. The lead of the franchise, Vince Zampella, recently confirmed some key details on the upcoming Battlefield in an interview with IGN

The series is set to return to a modern setting, bringing it thematically closer to Battlefields 3 and 4. This is a relief, considering that the last three games explored historical (BF1 and BFV), and the most recent title Battlefield 2042 is in a future setting.

The initial concept doesn’t give away much, but the city’s architecture hints that the setting could be in Europe. The depiction includes modern helicopters and ships, possibly foreshadowing what we can anticipate in the final version. A significant section of the map is engulfed in flames, suggesting massive weaponry usage.

Battlefield 2025

Some exciting news has emerged that will surely delight long-time series fans. Following the lukewarm reception of Battlefield 2042 and its “specials”, the upcoming game is set to bring back the traditional class system. Additionally, the focus will be on 64-player maps and matches, marking a departure from the previous 128-player battles.

Surprisingly, there’s a rumor going around that the upcoming Battlefield game might introduce a free battle royale mode. It’s said that the equivalent of Warzone in Battlefield will be named Gauntlet, but there’s still no official confirmation yet, but will drop here as soon as we get confirmation.

The next Battlefield is planned for 2025.
