The cause of the save issues affecting the Xbox Series X/S versions of Baldur’s Gate 3 has been identified by the team at Microsoft, and a firmware update is being prepared to address the problem in the upcoming week.
A delay in addressing the concerns related to technical difficulties and performance parity on the Xbox platform led to the release of Larian Studios’ critically acclaimed RPG for both Microsoft systems late last year during The Game Awards, where it secured the Game of the Year prize along with five others.
Since its launch, a significant number of Xbox users have reported encountering a severe bug that results in the complete deletion of their saved data. Fortunately, measures are being taken to transform this potential disaster into a concern of the past.

Microsoft have identified the cause of the save bug on Xbox, and will be issuing a firmware update to fix it!

Several potential solutions were previously provided by Microsoft for individuals experiencing the same problem. The Xbox Support X account recommended:
“In order to avoid this issue players should save their game and then return to the Xbox dashboard and select ‘Quit Game’ or ‘Save to Quick Resume’ from the game menu (Home, Game, Select, and then choose ‘Save to Quick Resume’ or ‘Quit’) when they finish playing. Users should not disconnect their console from the power. Users should select ‘shut down’ from the console menu and leave their Xbox connected to power.”
The sixteenth comprehensive hotfix update has been rolled out for Baldur’s Gate 3. This update introduces several quality-of-life enhancements, including the categorization of Waypoints and improved accessibility to quest-related items. Additionally, it addresses several visual bugs, such as the increased prominence of low-resolution textures during extended play sessions.
